Manage an ER case

ER case work should be confidential, evidence-based, and procedurally consistent.

Open a case

  1. Confirm you have HR/Admin access.
  2. Open ER Cases.
  3. Create a case and select the case type.
  4. Add the employee, owner, severity, and summary.
  5. Save the case.
  6. Reload and confirm the case appears with the correct status.

Add notes and status

  • Add timestamped notes for material updates.
  • Keep notes factual and relevant to the case.
  • Update status when ownership, escalation, or next action changes.
  • Attach or reference supporting material according to company policy.

Close or escalate

  • Close only after the resolution and follow-up are documented.
  • Escalate when the case requires higher review or legal/People Ops involvement.
  • Use the case record as the source of truth for ER workflow state.

Boundary

Do not put ER investigation details in shared 1:1 notes or recognition records.
